Abstract: As you drive the 115km from the Walkabout Creek Pub in McKinlay to Cloncurry with the escarpments of the Selwyn Range on your left, or the 170km from the Min-Min Centre at Boulia to Dajarra, you pass no towns and see few houses. You would be forgiven for thinking that the land was sparsely populated and of no importance.
