Abstract: A series of porphyrin-stoppered [2]rotaxanes incorporating neutral naphthodiimide and dinaphtho-crown ether subunits have been assembled using Pd-catalysed coupling reactions and by acylations of hydroxyl and amino functions on the pophyrin stopper units. This establishes the methodology for the production of more complex systems which can be addressed by the porphyrin components.
