|Title:||Conversations at Rochester Road: Carmel Bird Discusses Her Writing with Shirley Walker||Contributor(s):||Walker, Shirley (author)||Publication Date:||2004||Handle Link:||https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/1721||Abstract:||The scene is the living room in Carmel Bird's Victorian cottage which, when it was first built, was in the country, among orchards and vineyards. Now part of a streetscape, it is submerged in its own riotous garden: flowering shrubs, wisteria and blue plumbago climbing over everything, and the rose 'Thérèse of Lisieux' in full bloom beside the gate. Perhaps the prolific flowering this year is a result of the breaking of the drought, the end of the EI Niño weather pattern of recent years. The conversation turns to Carmel's extensive list of publications.||Publication Type:||Journal Article||Source of Publication:||Australian Literary Studies, 21(3), p. 277-288||Publisher:||University of Queensland Press||Place of Publication:||Brisbane||ISSN:||0004-9697||Field of Research (FOR):||200502 Australian Literature (excl Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Literature)||Peer Reviewed:||Yes||HERDC Category Description:||C1 Refereed Article in a Scholarly Journal||Other Links:||http://www.als.id.au/index.html
