|Title:||The use of Behavioural Anchored Rating Scales (BARS) in the identification of the competencies required to be an effective e-learner||Contributor(s):||Parkes, Mitchell (author) ; Reading, CE (author)||Publication Date:||2006||Handle Link:||https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/858||Abstract:||E-learning is becoming increasingly common in many Australian universities. However, little is known about what skills students require to be effective e-learners. This methodological paper describes the use of Behavioural Anchored Rating Scales (BARS) in the preliminary phase of a study designed to capture, in multidimensional, behavioural specific terms, the competencies required for effective e-learning at tertiary level. These competencies were identified by two separate panels of domain related experts. This paper provides a background of the BARS process, an overview of the panel process and a discussion of its implementation.||Publication Type:||Conference Publication||Conference Name:||Australian Computers in Education Conference (ACEC 2006), Cairns, Australia, 2nd - 4th October, 2006||Conference Details:||Australian Computers in Education Conference (ACEC 2006), Cairns, Australia, 2nd - 4th October, 2006||Source of Publication:||IT's up here for thinking: Proceedings of the 2006 Australian Computers in Education Conference, p. 1-8||Publisher:||Queensland Society for Information Technology in Education||Place of Publication:||Earlville, Australia||Field of Research (FOR):||130212 Science, Technology and Engineering Curriculum and Pedagogy||Peer Reviewed:||Yes||HERDC Category Description:||E1 Refereed Scholarly Conference Publication||Other Links:||http://acce.edu.au/conferences/2006/papers/use-behavioural-anchored-rating-scales-bars-identification-competencies-requ
